Accounting
Scholarships for Minority Students (John L. Carey Scholarships)
This scholarship program provides financial assistance to liberal
arts degree holders pursuing graduate studies in accounting. These
awards are intended to encourage liberal arts undergraduates to
consider professional accounting careers. The amount of the scholarship
is $5,000 for one year and is renewable for an additional year
of study.
Albert
W. Dent Student Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to minority students enrolled full-time
for the upcoming fall term, which is their final year in a healthcare
management program. The award amount is $3,500.
American
Architectural Foundation Minority Scholarship Program
Renewable scholarships are awarded to minority students studying
architecture on the basis of financial need, academic achievement,
an essay, recommendations or references, and SAT/ACT/GRE or other
test scores. Awards amount ranges from $500 to $3,000.
American
Art Therapy Association
Scholarships to assist with the purchase of books and other non-tuition-related
expenses are awarded on the basis of financial need to minority
students in the field of art therapy. Students must be members
of the American Art Therapy Association.
American
Dental Association Endowment & Assistance Fund Inc.
Renewable scholarships are awarded to underrepresented minority
students in dental school. Awards are based on financial need,
academic achievement, and recommendations or references. Amounts
range from $1,000 to $2,500.
American
Geological Institute Minority Participation Program
For minority students enrolling in architecture programs. Awards
vary from $500 to $3,000. Deadline is December 6.
American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Fellowships for Minority
Graduate Students)
This program awards up to $12,000 in financial assistance to students
who have earned a masters degree or completed at least three
years of full-time employment in accounting. Scholarships are
awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement,
and recommendations or references. The program is for applicants
attending or planning to attend school full time who have applied
to or been accepted into a doctoral degree program with a
concentration in accounting.
American
Institute of Chemical Engineers Minority Scholarship Awards
This program provides awards to students studying or intending
to study chemical engineering. One award level is for current
high school seniors and the other is for college undergraduates
who are outstanding role models for minority students. Scholarships
are based on financial need, academic achievement, essays, extracurricular
activities, and recommendations or references. Amount is $1,000.
American
Library Association Spectrum Initiative Scholarship
The American Library Association provides scholarships to 50 library
science students each year. Scholarships are awarded on the basis
of potential for success. Applications are accepted from students
entering or enrolled in ALA-accredited Master of Library Science
degree programs who have completed less than 12 semester hours
toward the masters degree through June of the year of application.
Award amount is $3,000.
American
Meteorological Society (AMS) Fellowship/Scholarship Programs
Limited to Hispanic, African American, or Native American freshmen
planning a career in atmospheric science. Transcripts, standardized
test scores, and a letter of recommendation are required. Amount
awarded per scholarship is 3,000.
American
Planning Association Planning Fellowships
This program provides financial assistance to students of urban
or transportation planning, regional planning, or related subjects.
Applications are accepted from minority college seniors or graduate
students. Awards range from $2,000 to 4,000.
American
Political Science Association Ralph Bunche Summer Institute
The APSA Summer Institute offers a five-week summer program for
minority undergraduate students who have completed their junior
year. The program is designed to introduce students to graduate
study and encourage them to pursue a doctorate in political science.
American
Society of Criminology Fellowship for Ethnic Minorities
This program provides financial assistance each year to three
minority students studying criminal justice. Applications are
accepted from current college seniors and graduate students accepted
into or enrolled in a program of doctoral studies in criminology.
Amount $6,000. Deadline is March 1, annually.
American
Society for Microobiolgy Minority Undergraduate Research Fellowship
This summer research program includes a student stipend, lodging,
travel, supplies, and other costs. Freshmen should have extensive
high school research experience; seniors must not graduate before
the start of the program. Applicants should have a strong interest
in pursuing graduate work in the microbiological sciences. Limited
to undergraduates studying microbiology or biology. Award is $4,500.
Deadline February 1, annually.
Bristol-Myers
Squibb Minority Fellowships in Academic Medicine
Each year up to 35 students are selected as Academic Medicine
Fellows by the Program Development Committee and awarded grants
of $6,000 each. The stipend enables each student to spend 8 to
12 weeks on a research project of interest under the guidance
of an experienced biomedical researcher who acts as the students
mentor and who may use up to $2,000 of the fellowship grant to
cover the costs of the internship.
The Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for Academic Diversity
Provides postdoctoral fellowships, research opportunities, mentoring and guidance in preparation
for academic career advancement. The goal of the program is to help develop young scholars
committed to careers in university research and teaching, and dedicated to fostering an
inclusive academic environment. The program currently solicits applications from individuals
committed to careers in university research and teaching, and whose life experience, research
or employment background will contribute significantly to academic diversity and excellence
at the Berkeley campus. Award is $40,000 plus benefits.
Cooperative Research Fellowship Program (Graduate students)
The Cooperative Research Fellowships (CRFP) are designed to identify
and develop scientific and engineering research ability among
members of underrepresented minority groups and increase their
representation in scientific and technological fields. The fellowships
provide full tuition and university fees, a book allowance, an
annual living stipend of $17,000 as well as conference and travel
expenses. Fellowship recipients may not accept any other fellowship
support.

and Canada Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship
The GFOAs Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship of
$5,000 is awarded to an upper-division undergraduate or graduate
student of public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance,
political science, economics, or business administration (with
a specific focus on government or nonprofit management)
Holly
Cornell Scholarship
These scholarships offer financial assistance to outstanding female
students and/or minority students who wish to pursue advanced
training in the field of water supply and treatment. Deadline
is January 15.
Inroads (lnternships
for minorities)
INROADS is a career development organization that provides career
and leadership development through paid summer internships experiences
for high achieving African American, Latino and Native American
college students. INROADS is annually ranked among the top ten
internships in the country.
Jackie
Robinson Foundation, Scholarship Program
Each year the Jackie Robinson Foundation supports approximately
240 scholars attending more than 50 colleges and universities
nationwide. Jackie Robinson scholars receive up to $24,000 scholarship
award ($6,000 per year) and a comprehensive range of support services
throughout their college years. Scholars must maintain a 3.1 grade
point average.
Lagrant
Foundation
The Foundation awards l0 scholarships worth $5,000 each to minority
students majoring in advertising, marketing, and public relations.
Deadline is March 29.
McDonalds Education Scholarships (with UNCF)
Mellon Minority Fellowship Program
Open only to second-year college students who are thinking about
pursuing PhD or MFA and are contemplating careers as college teachers.
Microsoft
Minority Scholarships
These scholarships are available to students who are enrolled
full-time and making satisfactory progress toward an undergraduate
degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related
technical discipline, such as math or physics with a demonstrated
interest in computer science. Scholarships are awarded to recipients
for one academic year. The scholarship will cover 100 percent
of the tuition for the given academic year as posted by the financial
aid office of the university or college.
NACME
Scholarships (National Action Council For Minorities in Engineering)
The Council provides several types of scholarships for students
majoring in engineering and occasionally for those majoring in
mathematics, physics and engineering technology. Awards are usually
for $20,000 each and many are awarded to high school seniors.
The deadline is in February.
NCAA
Scholarships (National Collegiate Athletic Association)
The NCAA sports association wards are given in all sports categories
and range from $3,000 to $12,500. Awards are also available for
sports related study.
National
Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Extramural Research
The National Research Service affiliated with the NIH awards several
predoctoral fellowships to minority students. The fellowship provides
up to five years of support for research training leading to a
Ph.D. or equivalent research degree such as, combined M.D./Ph.D
or other combined professional degree in biomedical, behavioral
sciences, or health services research. Application deadlines are
January 10 and May 10.
Project
1000 (for applicants to graduate school)
Project 1000 is a national program created to assist underrepresented
students applying to graduate school. Students may apply to seven
of the over 70 participating Project 1000 institutions by using
one application. Participation is free of charge to individual
students and to the participating institutions.
Public Relations Student Society of America Multicultural Affairs
Scholarship Program
The program provides scholarships to members and nonmember minority
undergraduate students pursuing a major or minor in public relations
or communications. Awards two scholarships of $1,500 each.
Society of Women
Engineers Rockwell International Corp. Scholarships
This scholarship is for female minority students studying computer
science or engineering who are attending or planning to attend
an institution that is SWE approved or has an Accreditation Board
of Engineering and Technology program. Scholarship amount is $3,000.

National Institutes of Health: Undergraduate Scholarship program
The NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program offers competitive scholarships
to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to
careers in biomedical, behavioral and social science health-related
research. NIH Undergraduate Scholarships will pay up to $20,000
per academic year in tuition, educational expenses, and reasonable
living expenses. Scholarships are awarded for 1 year but recipients
may reapply for up to three additional years.

Methodist Church Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship
for Ethnic Minority Students Scholarship Committee, Public
Media Division Two scholarships of $2,500 are awarded annually
to minority college students seeking a degree in religious journalism
or mass communications, or pursuing a career in religious communications.
William
Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Minority Students
The Nonprofit Sector Research Fund, a grantmaking program of the
Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C., offers the William Randolph
Hearst Endowed Scholarship in conjunction with a summer internship
program open to members of minority groups. Both graduate and
undergraduate students are eligible for the award. The goal of
the Fund is to introduce a diverse group of students to issues
related to philanthropy, voluntarism, and nonprofit organizations.
The scholarships vary between $2,800 and $4,200 depending on the
recipients educational level, financial need, and time commitment.
Xerox Technology Minority Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded to students majoring in areas like
chemistry, engineering, physics, and other tech areas.
The award amount is up to $4,000 for undergraduates and more for
graduate students (Type Scholarship in the search
engine).

The Foundation awards year fellowships to women of color, who
have been under- represented in the fields of Business Administration
(M.B.A., E.M.B.A.), Law (J.D.), Medicine (M.D., D.O.)

Scholarships, Foundation of the American College of Healthcare
Executives
Two scholarships awarded: Albert W. Dent Student Scholarship and
Foster G. McGaw Student Scholarship. The goal of the scholarships
is to increase the enrollment of minority students in healthcare
management graduate programs. Award is $3,500.
Agnes
Jones Jackson Scholarship
The NAACP National Headquarters offers this scholarship to graduate
students who have been NAACP members for at least one year. Applicants
must be 25 or younger. Award is $2,500.
Alpha Kappa
Alpha Scholarships Scholarships, Mini Grants, Fellowships
The Scholarships are awarded to students who have completed at
least one full year of higher education. Financial assistance
awards range from $500 to $1,500 and merit awards are $1,000.
The fellowships are awarded to students who have completed at
least two years of higher education and do research in the field
of mathematics, science or technology.

The Mental Health Research and HIV/AIDS Research Fellowships are
funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and are
designed to supports the training of researchers in psychological,
mental health and in HI V/AIDS research.
Historically
Black College and University Scholarships
These Scholarships offer up to $2,000 in financial support for
study abroad. Two-thirds of the scholarship is allocated to cover
the Institute for International Education of Students (IES) program
fees and $500 is provided towards the purchase of an airline ticket.

ACT_SO, Olympics of the Mind Scholarships
National
Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Internships &
Scholarships
NABJ awards summer internships to students committed to journalism
careers. Successful candidates are offered paid print, broadcast
or on-line positions at selected news organizations around the
country. NABJ also awards several nonrenewable $2,500 scholarships
to African American college students and one $5,000 four-year
sustaining scholarship to a high school student planning to pursue
career in journalism.
National

Project Excellence Scholarships
Project Excellence is a scholarship program for African-American
students who are high- school seniors in the Washington, D.C.
metropolitan area and will be attending college. Project Excellence
provides two types of awards: Partnership Awards and Scholarship
Awards. Partnership awards cover the cost of tuition and room
& board at the participating colleges and universities for
up to four years. Dozens of schools are participating in the partnership
school program. Scholarship Awards pay up to $10,000, with one
exception of $15,000.
Ron
Brown Scholars Program
This is a national program that awards scholarships to academically
talented, highly motivated African-American high school seniors
who intend to pursue undergraduate degrees full-time. Each year,
a minimum of ten students are designated Ron Brown Scholars and
receive $10,000 annually for four years, for a total of $40,000.
Ron Brown Scholarships are not limited to any specific field or
career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.
State
Farm National Merit Achievement Scholarship
State Farm Companies Foundation sponsors 20 Achievement Scholarships
annually. Achievement Scholarships are awarded to African-American
high school seniors selected by the National Merit Scholarship
Corporation. These scholars are awarded one-time, nonrenewable
$2,500 scholarship to be used towards a full-time study at an
accredited US college or university.
The
Development Fund for Black Students in Science
The Development Fund provides scholarships of up to $2,000 per
year, for a period of up to 4 years. Deans and faculty members
of engineering and science departments of predominately Black
colleges and universities should identify students they would
like to be considered for these scholarships.
Thurgood
Marshall Scholarships Fund (TMSF)
The Fund offers a variety of scholarships- some supporting specific
areas of interest. All TMSF Scholarships are awarded through the
45 member schools. Students interested in a TMSF scholarship should
contact a scholarship coordinator at any member college or university
and apply through the school. TMSF Scholarship Awards are up to
$2,200 per semester and are based on demonstrated financial need.

This scholarship is for Hispanic students studying physics. Applications

The General Electric Scholarship and the General Motors Scholarship
are two separate scholarships provided by the LULAC National Educational
Service Centers. These scholarships are intended to assist and
encourage outstanding minority students in completing their college
education. The program is directed specifically to minority students
with career interests in business or engineering. The GE/LULAC
Scholarship Program is open to sophomores through seniors interested
in business or engineering majors. This program awards two $5,000
scholarships. The General Motors/LULAC Scholarship is open to
freshmen through seniors interested in engineering majors. The
program awards twenty $2,000 scholarships.

College Fund Scholarships
The Fund provides financial support to Hispanic students majoring
in business-related areas (accounting, human resources, communications,
etc). Awards vary. Deadline is in April.
Hispanic/Latino
Scholarships for Undergraduates (various scholarships)
Hispanic Scholarship
Fund
Awards scholarships to Hispanic Graduate Students at selected
universities and in selected majors. Amount awarded is 10,000
for the 2002-2003 academic year, plus a paid summer internship
in New York. A renewal award of $10,000 is contingent upon the
successful completion of the summer internship. Selected majors
include Biostatistics, Economics, Medicine, Business Administration,
Electrical Engineering, Public Health, Computer Engineering,
Epidemiology, Computer Information Systems, Health Administration.

HISPANOCARE Scholarship Fund
Hispanocare provides scholarships for students of Latino descent
whose studies are in the healthcare field. Awards are usually
up to $1,500. Deadline is September 15.
Mexican
American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF)
The MALDEF Law School Scholarship Program offers financial assistance
to qualified Latino individuals in pursuit of higher education.
Each year MALDEF awards numerous law school scholarships to Latino
students in their first, second or third year of law school. Scholarships
range from $2,000 to $6,000.
NALEO Educational
Funds Leadership Program
The NALEO Fund administers the Ford Motor Company Fellows Program
and the Shell Legislative Internship Program (SLIP). Ford Motor
Company Fellows Program is designed for Latino Graduate/Professional
School students who are seeking to become familiarized with the
congressional legislative process. Students are selected from
the following states and regions: CA, FL, IL, Ml, TX, and Puerto
Rico. Participants receive f a stipend of $1,200 and free meals,
transportation and lodging. Shell Legislative Internship Program
(SLIP) is designed for college juniors and seniors who are seeking
to become familiarized with municipal or state legislative processes.
Students are selected from the following states: AZ, CA, FL, Ca,
FL, IL, NM, NY or TX. Participants receive f a stipend of $1,500
and free meals, transportation and lodging.
National
Hispanic Recognition Program
This program offers annual awards for outstanding Hispanic high
school students who are U.S. citizens. To qualify for the program,
students must take the PSATINMSQT test in the fall of their high
school junior year, during which they must affirm their Hispanic
heritage. Students who score well are then asked to complete an
application form. Award amount is 1,500.

Society of Hispanic MBAS Scholarship Program Fellowship
These scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to full-time
and part-time graduate students who wish to pursue a Masters degree
in Management and Business. The awards range from $2,000 to $15,000.

Library Associate Program
The Udall Library Associate Program is designed for persons from
Hispanic or Native
American backgrounds interested in pursuing a career in archives
and special collections librarianship. Udall Library Associates
will receive $12,000, tuition remission (excluding student fees
and taxes) and benefits.
Yakima Nation Tribal Scholarship
For undergraduate Native American students. Amount per scholarship
