Financing Scholarship covers university fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States, and where applicable, a contribution towards the support of an independent spouse.

Description The British Parliament created the Marshall Scholarships in 1953 to commemorate the humane ideals and generosity of the Marshall Plan by supporting talented young American who wish to study at any university in the United Kingdom. The program wants to develop leaders who understand and appreciate Britain, to encourage them to be US ambassadors, and to build lasting ties between the two countries. Applicants may come from any academic field, including the sciences, and should have a record of accomplishment and leadership outside the class. At least 40 scholarships are awarded annually.
How to Apply 1. Meet with Dean Bader by early September
2. JHU Deadline: September 22 (application, transcript/s, letters)
3. Official Deadline: Early October (JHU will send applications to designated region)
4. If an applicant wins an interview, JHU will conduct mock interviews.

Special Tips Consider listing a university outside Oxford, Cambridge, and the University of London as your first choice. Marshall seeks to promote the entire UK higher education system and likes applications outside these. All three recent winners took this approach.
