Description The Jacob Javits program supports students of superior academic ability and achievement, exceptional promise, and financial need for graduate study leading to a doctoral degree or a master's degree if it is terminal in that field (such as an MFA, MPP, etc.). The Department of Education awards fellowships in selected fields of study of the arts, humanities and social sciences, including creative writing, archaeology, and sociology. Most awards go to graduating seniors and those without graduate credits and sixty percent go to applicants in the humanities. The Javits is an extraordinarily generous grant, worth over $40,000 a year for up to four years.
