Financing The award provides an annual stipend of $10,000; $5,000 will be paid at the beginning of the project and $5,000 is awarded upon receipt of a six-month progress report.

Description The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides recipients with a grant to engage in meaningful public service for up to a year after graduating from college. Students should develop a creative and serious proposal for public service either in the US or abroad. The student may undertake the project alone or in conjunction with established charitable, religious, educational, governmental, or other public service organizations. Huntington was President and Chief Executive Officer of the New England Electric System. He was deeply interested in public service. Following his graduation from college and before attending law school, Mr. Huntington taught in Nigeria. His friends established the award to allow other students to have similar experiences and to provide public service.
