| Description | The Hertz Foundation provides fellowships to one of three-dozen universities for doctoral graduate work in the applied physical sciences. Each year, about 24 students win the award. The foundation wishes to support the graduate education of America's most promising technical talent, those wishing a Ph.D. who will have the greatest impact on the application of the physical sciences to human problems. Award winners are expected to use their talents for the common good and to pledge service to the country when needed. |
