Departmental Honors

Many departments provide the opportunity to earn departmental honors, which are usually based on cumulative G.P.A. and a senior thesis or project. If you qualify for honors, check your departmental homepage for more information, because departmental liaisons may require different information than described below (example: Biology).

If you believe that you qualify for honors in your major(s), follow these steps:

  1. Seniors, download the Honors Clearance Form and Honors GPA Worksheet below.
  2. Get an unofficial transcript from the registrar.
  3. If honors in your major require a certain minimal GPA, complete the Honors GPA Worksheet, using the information on the transcript.
  4. Make an appointment to meet with the Honors Liaison in the major department(s) who will complete the honors clearance form and sign it. Find the name and location of your Honors Liaison(s) by selecting the “Honors Liaisons” item below.
  5. Bring the signed form to Academic Advising by March 28th.

If you are not certain whether you qualify for departmental honors, go to the appropriate checklist on this website where the honors requirements in your major(s) are provided.
